The word “intuition” can be translated as “inner tuition,” or inner guidance. But who is it that “guides” us, that sets the direction?
The goal of all true spiritual development is to show how important it is to establish contact with this inner voice within us — this inner guidance.
It takes a great deal of patience and even more practice before one learns to distinguish and perceive this subtle inner voice from the more dominant voice of the mind. A final, decisive step is then to follow it with trust.
The fact that one is on the “right path” is expressed through a feeling of joy, confidence, and gratitude.
In order to hear this quiet inner voice—which the Rosicrucians call the voice of the “inner Master”—external and internal silence is needed. A pause between thoughts, a moment in which the unspoken gathers. It is by no means a void. Those who immerse themselves in this silence find deep calm, inner peace, and the potential for a profound encounter.
But now we face a problem. For in our technological, industrial, and digital mass civilization, people are surrounded by noise, stress, and distraction as never before.
This has profound and lasting effects on the very essence of the human being—their soul.
Feelings of meaninglessness have run rampant in today’s world. In response, a thriving esoteric industry has established itself, offering all manner of quick-fix promises of salvation and happiness—some more, some less legitimate. It is an external aid that, under certain circumstances, carries the risk of external control and dependency.
In addition, there is an exponential increase in mental health issues among people worldwide: depression and suicide among young people, and a rise in alcohol and drug addiction, as well as violent outbursts and the breakdown of social structures.
Where is the way out of this dilemma of humanity’s alienation from its true nature, its soul!
The answer comes from the deepest silence, within the human being. There one experiences a “something” that makes no sound.
It often seems to be the end of a long journey, an odyssey through life, until one is granted the experience in the deep silence of coming very close to the “inner Master” and his voice.
This is a blissful, holistic experience of unconditional love and deep inner peace.
And we realize that our true self, Christ within us, is the answer to all our questions.
