“Every effect is based on a cause; every cause produces an effect.
When we speak of ‘chance,’ it simply means that we have not yet recognized the cause (the underlying law).
There are many levels of causation—physical, psychological, and spiritual.
The same law governs them all.”
This is the 6th Hermetic Law of “Hermes Trismegistus,” as recorded in the book “Kybalion.”
This universal law, which has also found its way into the ethics of all wisdom teachings and philosophies as the “Golden Rule,” has also become known as the “Law of Equilibrium,” or balancing justice.
In Eastern religions, it is anchored as the principle of “Karma” (Sanskrit: कर्म, means “action”), which implies that every action or deed is followed by a reaction.
The principle of “Karma” is closely linked to “reincarnation,” since the reaction does not occur immediately following the deed. If it were, it would have been planned or intended by the actor from the outset.
The resulting effect lies in the law of cause and effect (karma), the “spiritual law of causality.”
The law is completely neutral, implies no punishment, and is timeless; that is, the effect, the balancing, may only occur or manifest in a later life.
In its universal significance, this law represents the spiritual force that repeatedly brings the cosmos (Greek: world order) into balance and maintains it therein.
What does this fundamental law of cause and effect, of balance, mean for every Rosicrucian student.
It means:
Every thought,
Every word,
Every action,
has an influence on our destiny.
—beyond time
But that would also mean:
Since all reality is ONE, there is also an influence on the spiritual evolution of the WHOLE!
