Together with the actual pandemic situation of the corona virus we see the rampant psychological spreading of fear around the world. It has been there all along with our mode of thinking, but the greater part was hidden in the unconscious. Now out from this shadow world fear is arising, showing its face to the whole world like the dragon in the apocalypse. Will we succumb to it – as we have done before in other crises which mankind had to face? Or will we see this corona crisis and the fear it engenders as a great opportunity for transformation of consciousness on a global scale.
The world, in which we live, is ridden by fear. A fear from whom that man, that was called the Christ, said more than 2000 years ago, “In this world you will have tribulation (fear), but take heart I have overcome the (that) world.”(John 16:33) And Christ also said regarding the miracles he had performed to his disciples: “Truly, truly, I tell you, whoever believes in Me will also do the works that I do. And he will do even greater works things than these, because I am going to the Father” (John 14:12)
Another citation from John 1:5 “The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it”. That is the situation of the world today. And all this refers to a level of consciousness, our being trapped in the ego-consciousness, and the encouragement to move on to another level.
We live in fear, remembering all that has happened in the past and according to the negative news, pandemics, climate change, atomic threats etc. are afraid of the future – afraid of the survival of the human species.
Let us look at fear. It engenders hate, envy, power, separation, is hardening and takes away our freedom.
Jiddu Krishnamurti wrote: “Fear robs our freedom, engulfs us in its flames (Hell). If you will examine it, you will see that there is fear only when thought dwells on the yesterday or tomorrow, the past or the future. There is no fear in the actual present. So thought is the origin of fear. The thought of tomorrow or yesterday. Attention is the active present. And that is an extraordinary thing to discover for oneself”
What is underlying the feelings of fear? It’s in the last analysis the fear of death, which is the fear of the death of ego with which we identity.
This denial of death is paramount in our society today – oblivious that a denial of death means also a denial of life in its fullest sense.
Our unanswered questions about death equal our unanswered questions about life. Instead of addressing these questions we have made us comfortably in a surrogate life. (Plato’s cave)
In the beginning of the 20th century something important happened: a paradigm change in our worldview. Insofar as that there is a proven equivalency between mass and energy: Einstein’s famous formula E=mc2. It was the beginning of further scientific revolutions: the quantum theory and its interpretations. (see my other postings in this regard).
We know of another law of natural science: the indestructibility of energy. Energy cannot get lost or destroyed, it can only be transformed.
Let us look into the energy of fear, which is connected with the ego consciousness level and time and space. How can we get out there? The answer is, only by transformation of the fear energy into a higher level of consciousness which is endowed with the energy of love.
Teilhard de Chardin has written much about this energy form of love and its revelation in the message of Christ in the New Testament. He saw in Christ not only a unique historical figure of revelation. He saw Christ in a cosmic dimension and as the point Omega, the goal of the spiritual evolution of mankind.. Teilhard de Chardin explains love as the substance of the elementary binding force of evolution, as the most important energy form, which we as humans have and which has been entrusted to us.
- Similar to the further development in science Teilhard brings new interpretation of the Eucharist in which matter is transformed into rays of divine energy.
- Our suffering and death can be transformed into union with God or the source of all life.
- In regard to the assumption that Christ is head of the universe (Eph. 1,10). Here we are not only concerned with our petty individual fate, but here we are concerned with the fate of the totality of creation. Therefore we are not only responsible for our society but also for the whole creation – and we are just about to learn that.
To come back to our theme of the actual corona virus and the required transition to move from fear to love, i.e. from lower consciousness to higher level of consciousness, which is also called Messianic or Christ consciousness or Cosmic consciousness. It is the consciousness endowed with love.
To this turn of direction into the new level of cosmic consciousness our individual contribution is essential.
And the joyous message to always hold in heart:
There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out all fear.
And I would add: There is no fear of death anymore. Like all sages always have said: Death has never existed in the level of consciousness which is beyond our human existence. But when we hear of resurrection we should be aware that we refer to a new level of consciousness well outside the boundaries of human existence. In it, humanity will not sense an ego barrier of separation, but will be united in the totality of the universe.
Resurrection is the promise of a new era, a transformation and transition into a consciousness previously unknown in which reality undergoes a profound change.
May we all gain the insight and strength to follow the path of practicing loving kindness and become truly connected into ONE LOVE, ONE LIFE and ONE LIGHT.
