For me, the title “CHRIST” symbolizes a high state of consciousness: Christ consciousness. There have always been people, Thomas Aquinas, Blaise Pascal, even Plato, C. G. Jung etc., who have borne witness to this. But they all kept it strictly secret because otherwise they would have come into conflict with the church, been burned or lost their reputation as scientists.
For the Church, there is only one CHRIST, one Son of God. The fact that Jesus himself said that each and every one of us are also children of God and could achieve even more than he did.*
Yes, I too have experienced such an “extraordinary” state of consciousness in my life. This is called “enlightenment” or, in the East, “sartori”. These states are associated with unusual clarity and light and you feel very close to Christ/God, even one with his spirit. Afterwards you are a deep believer, but in a different way than the church proclaims.
That is why people keep quiet about it, because only those who have experienced it for themselves understand.
Thomas Aquinas: “Everything I have written seems like dry straw compared to what I have ‘seen’”.
*bible quote from NIV: John 14:12, “Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father”.
